Since October last year, the Wiener KammerOrchester has had a specialist in historically informed performance practice at the helm with chief conductor Jan Willem de Vriend. His programs reflect this expertise, as he now sheds light on milestones of the Classical era and the emerging Romanticism.
The significance of the so-called "London Bach" for Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is acknowledged here, as is Mozart’s influence on Franz Schubert, whose 5th Symphony repeatedly references the works of his great spiritual brother almost "verbatim."
