Konrad Varga
Konrád Varga was born in Vienna in 2006 and discovered his passion for the cello at the age of four. He has won multiple first prizes at the Austrian youth competition Prima la musica – both as a soloist and in chamber music categories.
As a soloist, he has performed with the Vienna ChamberOrchestra as well as with orchestras in Austria, Romania, and Japan. His playing is marked by profound interpretation, technical finesse, and a richly nuanced sound palette. Chamber music is especially close to his heart – whether performing with orchestras or in smaller ensembles.
Konrád is a highly versatile musician. In addition to his solo and chamber music activities, he is passionate about orchestral playing – he regularly substitutes with the Vienna State Opera – and is also interested in composition. In 2018, his father premiered his Ballade in Yellow for solo cello in the United States. Other works have been performed at the MuTh and at the Wiener Konzerthaus. Since 2024, he has been studying at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in the class of Professor Reinhard Latzko. (As of 04/2025)
