Alejandro Loguercio, born in Venezuela, is an outstanding violinist, renowned educator, and visionary founder of the Music Academy and Orchestra Academy Währing in Vienna. His extraordinary musicality and virtuosity have made him a celebrated soloist, chamber musician, and teacher. At a young age, he won first prize at the International Violin Competition Concurso Biblioteca Luis Angel Arango in Bogota, marking the beginning of his international career. He has focused primarily on Latin American "crossover," merging classical music with his Latin roots—a unique approach that has shaped his solo career. Loguercio has performed on prominent stages worldwide, including the Wiener Festwochen, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Ravinia Festival, and the Riga-Jurmala Music Festival.
Loguercio’s musical journey began in Venezuela’s El Sistema youth orchestra project, followed by studies at the Conservatorio de Música in Valencia, Venezuela. At just 16, he was appointed first violinist with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Carabobo. After engagements with the Filarmónica del Caribe Chamber Orchestra and the Orquestra do Norte in Portugal, he continued his studies, gaining international recognition through numerous awards.
In 2003, he moved to Vienna to pursue violin studies with Prof. Klaus Maetzl and chamber music with Prof. Johannes Meissl at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. There, he was inspired by distinguished musicians such as Hatto Beyerle, Alberto Lysy, Gerhard Schulz, Shmuel Ashkenazy, Roberto Valdes, José Francisco del Castillo, and Ferenc Rados.
In addition to his solo career, Alejandro Loguercio is deeply dedicated to chamber music. He is a member of the Latin-Classical crossover trio "Crossmopolitans," the "Acros Trio," and the tango-comedy group "Garufa!". He frequently collaborates with renowned musicians; in 2016, he recorded the "Carmen" CD for Deutsche Grammophon with accordionist Ksenija Sidorova and has since been her ensemble's solo violinist. He also regularly performs as the violinist of the Rojotango Ensemble with acclaimed baritone Erwin Schrott.
Since 2013, Alejandro Loguercio has served as concertmaster of the Max Steiner Orchestra in Vienna. As a passionate educator, he is committed to passing on his musical expertise. In addition to directing the Music Academy Währing, he has been teaching Latin American music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna since October 2021. Since 2019, he has also been involved in the "Superar" music education project, where he leads the beginner orchestra and oversees the violin groups.
